You Don’t Need a Book Anymore to Be Influential

By Diane

Ron Hudson of InmediateInfluenceBlog.com just published his list of Top 50 Most Powerful and Influential Women in Social Media.

Of the top 10, it looked to me like only 2 had books. And they were not “traditional books” (i.e. print), but ebooks.

These women are influencers, sure, in a certain niche–online marketing. They each have their own style, and some of them are leading very large “tribes.” Others are leading smaller tribes (check out how many links they have coming in, as listed in the article). Yet–that’s all it took to be named.

As I said in my article, “The Real Job of an Author,” it’s not so much about selling books as leading a “tribe.” Being an influencer.

It’s not all that hard. I’ll be interviewing Cathy Perkins, #15 on the list, about how she made the list. Stay tuned! (And congratulations, Cathy! Making the list proves that what you teach in your Blogging in a Web 2.0 World works! Note to anyone who clicks this link–the class was taught, but if you sign up, you still get full access to all the course materials.)

Diane, thanks for the information about the list. That’s a great observation about how the Internet has changed the role of “influencer”.

I look forward to your interview with Cathy.
