    Diane, you are absolutely right.
    Drafting your proposal (and back-cover sales copy) will help you focus on who your market is and what you plan to deliver to them.
    Whether you plan to sell out to a publisher or publish yourself, prior planning will make the writing faster and easier. For details, see
