Replay Ready for “Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys” Virtual Book Tour
Posted by: | CommentsDid you know that the older a boy gets, the more he needs from those who love him?
If you have a boy in your life (son, grandson, nephew, student, someone you’re mentoring), find out why boys are the way they are and how you can come alongside them at any age to help them navigate the choppy waters of the journey to manhood.
Listen to the replay of the Virtual Book Tour with authors Stephen James and David Thomas as they answered questions submitted at www.answersforparentingboys.com. (You can also submit your question; authors will be answering them on their blog.) Find out:
-
why it’s so hard for boys to “sit still and pay attention”–and how to help them learn anyway
-
what the 5 stages of a boy’s development and what they need in each stage
-
how do we deal with a boy’s emotions (anger, crying, etc.)?
-
how do you get a boy to obey?
-
what does a boy need most from his mom? his dad?
-
what is THE most important thing to remember when nurturing a boy?
And much more! Listen and learn how to better nurture the boy in your life.
Virtual Book Tour on The Art of Nurturing Boys–Invitation
Posted by: | Comments
If you have a boy in your life that you care about (son, grandson, students, boys on a team you coach, etc.), you will want to listen in on a fascinating discussion I’m having next week with Stephen James and David Thomas about “Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys.”
The best part is–you get to ask the questions!
If you go to http://www.answersforparentingboys.com you can ask the authors about your most challenging issue with raising boys.
After you ask your question (or if you just want to sign up, say “none,”), you’ll have access to a quick video of the authors sharing a bit about what prompted them to write this new, practical, and insightful book that will help you understand, appreciate, and better mentor the boys in your life.
The live Virtual Book Tour–where I ask the authors questions submitted at that web site–will take place next Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 5 pm Pacific/6 Mountain/7 Central/8 Eastern.
So please mark your calendar and plan to listen in. You can listen via phone (normal long-distance charges apply) or via computer by clicking on a webcast player (no cost).
You’ll get all the details when you sign up here. (If you’re reading this after Feb. 3, 2009, you can still ask your question and listen to the replay afterward.)
Even if the boy in your life is older–say in his teens or 20s–there will still be plenty for you as well. That’s one of the unique aspects of this book: It shows why and how males need to be nurtured way past childhood.
I hope our paths cross next week for what will no doubt be a lively discussion that will provide fresh insights, encouragement and guidance as you come alongside the boys you care about.

Nancy Ortberg Virtual Book Tour Replay is Ready

If you were unable to attend the Virtual Book Tour last night on Unleashing the Power of Rubber Bands: Lessons in Non-Linear Leadership, the replay is now available here.
It was great! We had people from all over the world ask questions and attend, and Nancy answered as many questions as we could cover in an hour.
You can listen online, or download the mp3 file to your computer or portable media player. If you want to download it, please right click the “download now” link, rather than the “Podcast Now” link–it will work better for you.
There’s even a special bonus for those who get the book (of course!).
You’re Invited … to a Virtual Book Tour on Multiple Intelligences
Posted by: | Comments
I’m excited to be doing several Virtual Book Tours in the coming weeks, and I’d like to invite you to the first one.
If you’re a parent or educator, or have a child in your life you’d like to love and understand better … or you just want to know more about the many ways one can be smart, check out the upcoming Virtual Book Tour with Dr. Kathy Koch, author of How Am I Smart? A Parent’s Guide to Multiple intelligences. On the upcoming Virtual Book Tour (rescheduled from October 13), we’ll be talking about the eight multiple intelligences and how to apply it to helping children succeed in school.
As usual with these Virtual Book Tours, you get to ask Dr. Kathy Koch your question, and we’ll answer submitted questions on the live teleseminar. You’ll be able to listen to via your phone (normal long-distance charges apply) or via webcast (no long-distance charges).
All the details are here. Even if you don’t have a question, sign up so you’ll get the call-in info and the link to the replay, if you can’t make the live call.
This book has helped my daughter’s self-esteem as we identified her strengths, and helped her to value her friends’ strengths as well. It’s been fun to have a “new language” to use when talking about our uniqueness.
When you sign up, you’ll get access to a sample chapter of How Am I Smart? A Parent’s Guide to Multiple Intelligences, plus a link to another interview I did with Dr. Kathy. Good stuff!
