In our teleseminar on blogging, Cathy Perkins told the true story of a friend of hers who has a blog and wrote a post that the Los Angeles Times contacted him about. The LA Times interviewed the blogger, and his name and blog url were included in the article. Traffic to his blog increased ten times, and who knows where that exposure will lead.

Nowadays, to the media, it’s less important if you have a printed book than it used to be. If you have a well-visited blog that looks professional and people visit and comment on, you are seen as an expert. Read the rest of this post and listen to the teleseminar replay.

Stu McLaren is doing a very smart promotion for his Wishlist Member software–and I want you to pay attention to it.

First, go here so you can see what I’m talking about. (It will open in a new window so you will have to switch back and forth to read this and view that. Or, you can just read this first, then go back and study it. Or vice versa. Just make sure you study it!)

I want you to notice what the author of Crush It! has done to promote his book.

First, he’s teamed up with someone with a following that matches the author’s exact market. When you get Wishlist Member in October (and only in October), you get a free copy of the book.

Second, Stu will do an “exclusive” interview on October 29 with the author.

Notice two things they have built in here. Read More→

Keep Your Blog Secure!

Posted by: Diane | Comments (0)

Technology–bane or blessing?

If your web site is ever hacked, it will feel like a huge bane. If not a curse.

I’ve had my blog hacked into twice now (and I’m wondering if my email was also hacked–if you get spam from me, IT’S NOT really from me. I’m looking into it.)

Listen, as authors, we need a blog. We absolutely do. (Read here for 9 reasons why .)

But if your site is ever hacked, and perhaps shut down or blocked by search engines–that is a BIG PROBLEM.

There are some simple steps to keep that from ever happening, and tomorrow you get a chance to listen to Cathy Perkins, the WordPress Wizard, talk about some of the things you have to know to keep your blog secure.

More on Finding Your Best-Selling Title

Posted by: Diane | Comments (0)

I just got back from vacation, and a fun one it was, too! I hope you had some time to relax and “refill the well” this summer. Hard to believe it’s winding down already!

I wanted to remind you about the upcoming teleseminar this Tuesday on “How to Choose Your Best-Selling Title.” Please ask your question and sign up. (Even if you can’t think of a question, please put in something so you can get the call-in details.)

In preparation for the call, I encourage you to read
the following two articles: How to Choose Your Best-Selling Title and 7 Ways to Find Your Best-Selling Title.

As “your book publishing coach,” my goal is for you to take action on the information I give you. So I have prepared an Action Tips Special Report that goes with the second article. It’s called “7 Action Steps for Choosing Your Best-Selling Title.”

When you read the article, “7 Ways to Find Your Best-Selling Title,” you’ll also see the details of what’s in this Special Report.

I hope you will read these two brief but meaty articles and ask me your question, then join me on the teleseminar on Tuesday.

I also urge you to get the Special Report. This will give you a head start on choosing your winning title. Also, when you read it and begin to implement the suggestions, it may spark a question I can answer on the call, or the blog. It’s an excellent way for you to get my targeted coaching at no cost.

Newsletter, teleseminar replays ready.

Posted by: Diane | Comments (0)

The latest issue of Your Book Publishing Coach newsletter is ready now. You can read it online or download the PDF file.

I suggest you first just open it, click on any of the links that interest you, and then print it out and save on your computer for future reference.

One other thing from this week:

If you didn’t catch Tuesday’s teleseminar with Jeff Herring on repurposing content (in the middle of which, we had a dramatic moment–you’ll have to listen to find out what happened), you can listen to the replay now.

Listen if you have time this weekend–it should get your mental wheels spinning! Make sure you check out his special offer as well–it probably won’t be available by this time next week.

Enjoy your weekend!

On next week’s Your Book Publishing Coach teleseminar, I’ve invited a special guest, Jeff Herring, “the Internet article g uy,” to answer questions with me on how to repurpose your content to sell more.

Repurposing content is THE secret to making a lot of money from your expertise, as I wrote in my Article of the Week. If you have a question about how to repurpose your content, please ask now!

Then, join us next Tuesday evening at 8 pm Central as we answer your questions.

BTW, you’ll be able to access next week’s teleseminar in two ways–either by phone or on the Web (which will save you long distance charges if you don’t have a calling package, or are overseas). You’ll also be able to ask a question during the call, right online!

Ask your question and sign up now so you get all the call-in details. There will be a replay as well.

The new Article of the Week picks up where “Story of a Successful (but Broke) Author” left off. This time you will find out the big Secret Successful Author learned that has made all the difference in her being able to make a living from her book.

Reminder about the Resource of the Week: There are still just a few remaining special offer consultations from Terry Whalin available. Remember, Terry will go over your query and book proposal in a 40-minute, private phone consultation, when you get his 3 CD-set, “Editor Reveals Book Proposal Secrets.”

In this consultation, Terry will point out any weaknesses that may make an editor reject your submission, and show you exactly how to strengthen your proposal, point by point.

This is available for only the first 12 people, so you must act now. If the slots are already filled, you will be put on a standby list in case someone who qualified decides not to move ahead with the consultation.

For more information on the wealth of content you will learn from Terry, check out my Resource of the Week page.
