Becomng a Successful Author: One Crucial Key
ByOn my upcoming Your Book Publishing Coach teleseminar, I’ll be talking about some of the key components to becoming a successful author that I’ve observed in my 30 years of publishing as an author and editor.
I’ll give away just one key to becoming a successful author right now: knowing how to build a community around your idea.
Seth Godin calls it a “tribe” in a recent book (around which he’s created his own tribe–very clever).
You might also think of it as a village–a community of people who have an identity (your followers).
How would you design such a community so that people know why they’re there, what to do when they’re there, and why they should come back (preferably with a friend or two)?
There’s a class starting THIS WEEK, that will show you exactly how to do all that.
Just go here for the details: http://www.designyourvillage.com.
NOTE: The deadline for the early-bird discount is JUNE 8, so if you want to take a crucial step in building your author platform, please seriously consider this class. It’s taught by Russell Cox, Bonnie Dubrow, and yours truly. I’ll be adding tips, ideas, and concrete examples of how to apply these concepts to being an author; Russelll and Bonnie speak to business people and other professionals, so you’ll get a well-rounded perspective from us, as well as from your fellow students.
The three of us taught the recent “Develop Your Audience” class, and one participant said, “It’s like getting to listen in on a Mastermind group of experts!” There really is something exciting about when the three of us get together to share what we know with the sharp people we get on this class–great synergy happens.

I’ll be covering more about this whole community thing in the future, because I think it is SO KEY to being heard above the noise.
