Has a Book Helped You Professionally? Tell Me Your Story!
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008
On my site, I have a Special Report called 13 Ways a Book Can Boost Your Business. Feel free to go get it.
What I’d like to hear are YOUR stories about how a published book has helped you professionally, especially if you’re a business person.
Send me an email: diane at wordstoprofit.com, and tell me your story briefly. Include your phone number, please. I just may give you a LOT of exposure, if your story matches the kind of case study I’m looking for.
If you wish you did have a book to boost your business or catapult your career, I invite you to get the Special Report. When you do, you’ll also be eligible for special invitations to some exciting teleseminars coming up.
Stay tuned–and share your story, if you have one!
Selling Lots of Books at Once–Plus a Great Resource is Back!
Wednesday, January 16th, 2008Tomorrow, Steve Harrison is going to interview Mathew Bennett on how to sell books in large quantities, and I recommend you sign up for this.
I know someone very well who is in what’s called “special sales” with a publisher, and I know it’s true you can sell books in bulk to places like ministries, corporation, and other organizations.
In fact, I’m kicking myself that I left it up to my publisher to do this, (more…)
Did Another Author Steal My Book Idea?
Saturday, January 12th, 2008Something unexpected and interesting came from my listening to Terry Whalin’s interview with 8 publishing professionals .
Terry had asked each guest to talk about a book proposal that had somehow impressed him or her. One of the editors was someone with whom I had worked on a couple of books.
As I listened to the book proposal this editor had chosen to highlight, it sounded eerily familiar. After the call, I double-checked. Sure enough, in my proposal for one of my books, I had mentioned this very idea as a possible follow-up to the book I was then proposing. To the publisher who published the book in question.
Furthermore, I was pretty sure I had mentioned this idea to the person who had written the book.
So, had this other author “stolen” my idea, written a proposal that was accepted, and then written a book that went on to sell 100,000 copies? (more…)

Thursday, January 10th, 2008I just got off the webcast that Terry Whalin did with 8 top publishing executives, and I have to tell you, it stands as one of the few BEST calls I have ever listened to, in terms of quality, helpful content.
Terry asked each publishing pro (editor, publisher, or literary agent) to talk about (more…)
Why You Need a Book Proposal …
Tuesday, January 8th, 2008I have a new article on my site: “Why You Should Write a Book Proposal (Even If You Plan to Self-Publish).”
I want you to read it, because it explains why writing a book proposal will help you write a better book, faster and easier, even if you plan on self-publishing.
As usual, I also offer some Action Steps so that you can make the most of the ideas I present.
That’s why I call myself “your book publishing coach,” after all.
What It Takes To Get Published Now (and Get Paid to Do So)
Monday, January 7th, 2008Just yesterday I talked with an editor from a major publishing house who revealed two things publishers are always looking for. (I’m talking about the kind of publisher who pay you to publish with them, not the ones you pay to get published.)
Here’s what they look for: (more…)

And–have you kept them so far?
Well, here’s a resource that will help you stick to your resolutions.
I hope you will download it, read it, and most important–DO it!
If you do, you will see this year become THE YEAR you meet your goals.
And, if one of them is to write a book, I suggest you check out a resource that will allow you to Jump Start Your Book and get it going in the quickest, easiest, most effective way possible.
