Resources for Exploiting the Possibilities of the New Era of Book Publishing

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

open doorOn last night’s teleseminar I talked about “why this is the best time to be an author” and what the possibilities of “new era book publishing” are.

You can sum up what “new era publishing” is all about in one word: technology.

People get that, and it opens up a lot of questions about how to go about that–many of which I answered on the call. (Find out what was covered and listen to the replay here.)

I answered lots of questions and gave out some great resources for getting a handle on the mechanics of setting up a web site, installing a blog, the resources you need to start selling from your own site, and more.

One special resource I’d like to highlight–because it will soon become unavailable–is Alex Mandossian’s Electronic Marketing Analysis. If you want to succeed in the new era of publishing, you need to master electronic marketing.

A free way to get started in just 2 minutes is to take this quiz. After you answer 7 questions, you’ll receive a custom report that tells you where you are now.

You’ll also begin to receive free training tips. I encourage you to take advantage of this now, because it will only be available for a few more days.

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Just a friendly reminder that the teleseminar on “Why This is the Best Time to Be an Author” is TONIGHT.

I will talk not only about why this is a great time to become an author, but also why being a complete newbie is actually an advantage.

Plus, I’ll answer questions you submit, before the call and during (if there’s time).

Here’s a few of the questions already submitted I’ll be answering: (more…)

Learn about Book Marketing from One of the Very Best Trainers …

Monday, November 12th, 2007

If you read my recent articles and blog posts, you know that I think this is a great time to be an author.

There are so many wonderful tools and opportunities to promote books that weren’t there before.

In addition, the Internet and other technology has allowed us authors and aspiring authors to actually make a huge profit from the information we have to share with the world.

Whereas before, we could only hope for 10-15 percent of “net” royalties from a publisher (if we were so lucky as to be published), now we can not only self-publish and keep ALL the profit, we can also deliver our content
in a variety of other ways.

Just about all of these alternative ways–teleseminars, membership sites, articles, ebooks, multi-media home study courses, etc.-have a much greater profit margin than printed books.

You would do well to consider these new methods of getting your message into the world.

I’d like to recommend you take a 2-minute quiz to start you on this path. It’s an Electronic Marketing quiz put together by one of my colleagues, Alex Mandossian, who is an amazing marketer and one of the best trainers I’ve ever come across.

When you take this quiz, you will receive a customized analysis of your current starting point. You will also begin to receive some free training on marketing that is very worthwhile.

So take the 2-minute quiz and go from there. Don’t worry, in the coming days and weeks I’ll be helping you put the things you’ll be learning into the context of being an author and getting your message into the world in ways that could very well change your life (as they did mine).

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

I invite you to attend my upcoming teleseminar on the New Era of Publishing next Wednesday evening, 5 p.m. Pacific, 8 p.m. Eastern.

I’ll be expanding on what I wrote about in the article I posted yesterday, plus so much more.

Specifically, I’ll be talking about how technology has changed everything. And why I think this is the BEST time to be an author.

I hope you’ll read the article in preparation.

And do ask your questions about what New Era Publishing is, and how mastering it can help you (more…)

It’s a New Era in Publishing–Are You Ready?

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

new eraPerhaps you’ve heard me say it before: I believe this is the very BEST time in history to be an author.

However, this is only true if you embrace a whole new way of seeing and operating in the book publishing world.

That’s because the OLD era of book publishing is BROKEN!

Yes, broken. (Read one of the main reasons here.)

Publishers know it’s broken. While some publishers are scared, others are creating the New Era in Publishing.

Authors are either limping along under the old model, or embracing the new and succeeding.

If you have a book inside you, one on the way to be published, or one or more already published, you must read the latest article I wrote, because you’ll find out the differences between Old Era Publishing and New Era Publishing.

I consider this one of the most important articles I’ve written, and believe me,there will be more along these lines. I’ll also be doing teleseminars that not only discuss New Era Publishing, but also give you the skills you will need to succeed in it.

So please, read the article, and take the action steps I suggest. As “your book publishing coach,” I always want to spur you on to DO something, however small (two of the steps will take you only 2 minutes). I want to move you a bit further in the direction of your goal of successfully publishing your book.

This Kind of Book Tour Can Be Hazardous to Your Health

Monday, November 5th, 2007

WindUp2 tnbI had lunch with a friend on Friday, a successful author of 6 novels and many nonfiction books as well, all published by mainstream publishers.

I hadn’t seen my friend for many months. On Friday I found out why.

With the publication of her 5th and 6th novels, almost two years ago, her publisher sent her on a two-month book tour. A different city nearly every day! She stopped at major bookstores for book signings. On top of that, she wove in some speaking engagements that she’d already set up.

I remember speaking to her toward the end of that tour, en route to yet another speaking engagement. She did not sound good.

Then, I didn’t hear from her for a long, long time. She didn’t return phone calls or emails.

I finally found out why, on Friday. (more…)

How to Develop “Deep, Meaningful Relationships” with People Who Want Your Information …

How comfortable are you with the Internet?

Probably pretty comfortable, if you’re reading this blog. But are you maximizing your own use of it?

In my opinion, it’s well worth getting VERY comfortable with the Internet if you’re an author or aspiring author who wants to write and publish a book.

The best way to explain why I believe this is to hearken back to a quote by Michael Cader that I posted on my blog a couple of weeks ago. (more…)
