Do you have a question about how to write for children? Ask it here.

TODAY, Tuesday, July 17, at 8 p.m. Central, I will do a Virtual Product Tour with children’s author and writing coach Suzanne Lieurance, in which she will answer questions on how to write for children. If this
interests you, go ask your question! And remember, if you can’t make the live call, you can always catch the replay. Suzanne will be giving some great information!

Questions about other aspects of publishing?

Ask me! My new Ask page is set up now.

Ask your questions about writing, publishing, promoting your book, Virtual Book Tours–anything! I will be answering your questions NEXT Tuesday evening, July 24. No interviewer on that one, just a live teleseminar in which I’ll answer some FAQs about publishing, including several that were asked on my recent Abundant Gifts Virtual Book Tour.

I hope you can join Suzanne and me tonight, or me next week, to get your questions answered.

New Article: 5 Advantages of an Ask-Type Vritual Book Tour

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

It’s been an age-old problem for authors: how do you develop a relationship with readers?

The newest Article of the Week is all about how an Ask-type Virtual Book Tour overcomes this problem. Of course, a VBT is not the only way that exists today (thankfully), but it is one of the best ways to start a dialogue with readers.

I talk about this, and 4 other advantages of an Ask VBT, in my new Article of the Week. I hope you’ll take a couple of minutes to read it.

Where to go if you have questions about writing for children …

Friday, July 13th, 2007

I have a very special invitation specifically for those of you who have always wanted to write and publish your own stories, articles, and books FOR CHILDREN–but just didn’t know how to get started. If this interests you, please plan to attend a special Virtual Book Tour I’ll be hosting for my friend and fellow author, Suzanne Lieurance, next Tuesday evening, July 17.

If you listened to my recent VBT for Abundant Gifts, you may remember Suzanne, who was the host of that event. What you may not know is that Suzanne is also the author of 15 published books for children, an
instructor for the Institute of Children’s Literature, and founder and director of the National Writing for Children Center. Needless to say, Suzanne knows a thing or two about writing and publishing for
children. And she’d like to share some of that knowledge with you by answering your most pressing question about writing and publishing for children. So ask your question now!

When you submit your question to Suzanne via this link, you will receive via email an invitation to the VBT in which she’ll answer submitted questions and talk more about her 2CD & workbook program called Tricks of the Trade: The Secrets of Writing for Children. I will host this event for Suzanne on Tuesday night, July 17th, at 6 p.m. Pacific, 8 Central, 9 Eastern.

Sign up for the VBT by submitting your question. Then, join us both for this live, free VBT on the night of July 17th, as Suzanne answers your question and many others about children’s publishing. (If you can’t make it, you’ll get notice of the replay page if you sign up.) You’ll find out all you need to know to get started writing and submitting your own stories, articles, and books for children for publication.

What I’ve Been Up To …. and Finish an Ebook by the End of Summer!

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

I’m a bit behind this week, what with the holiday and a couple of big projects going on for clients. I hope you had a great Fourth of July! My husband and I took our daughter and her friend into Chicago to see the fireworks, which are synchronized with the live classical concert at Grant Park.

All I can say is–it was spectacular! Even the children agreed it was worth the rather hellish trip back. A fight broke out in the train station right in front of us, even as we were all packed body to body and there was no room for flailing, angry, drunk people.

I’m a bit late for a formal “Resource of the Week,” but I thought I’d tell you that Jeff Herring, “the Internet Article Guy,” is starting a terrific program next week. It’s called the “Multiple Streams of Article Income Product Profit System–Summer Intensive” course, and by the end of the summer he promises to have you finish an ebook which you can sell.

Jeff will start with your 7 tips article, then create your ebook with articles, then use articles to drive traffic to your ebook. Along the way he’ll help you create 6 other products which will enhance, supplement and advertise your ebook. Don’t delay–it starts next week!

I think Jeff is a master at an important approach I’ll be teaching myself soon. It’s called repurposing content. Jeff shows you how to do it in very bite-sized pieces. He has templates that make it very easy. Check it out–look for the blue highlighted information at the top of this page, click on that, and learn more about this Summer Intensive course.

Question: “How do I motivate myself to promote my book when it feels like such a big task?”

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

As promised, I will begin to answer questions submitted to my Abundant Gifts Virtual Book Tour.

(You can submit your own question at any time. Also, if you missed event you can listen to the replay any time.)

Moreah asked, “How do I motivate myself to promote my book when it feels like such a big task?”

Oh, how I relate to that question! For a while, it felt like too big a task for me, too. However, I now have a good answer. (more…)
