Tale of a “Successful Author”

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This week’s article of the week is a bit different.

It’s not as straight a “how-to” article as I usually write.

Instead, it’s a case study of a successful, but broke, author.

A true story of what one successful author discovered about publishing.

It’s a story with a moral to it.

Read it.

See if you can guess who the “Successful Author” is.

Kick Your Writing Career in Gear

Friday, June 1st, 2007

If you’ve dreamed of becoming a freelance writer, here’s an opportunity to take some action right now.

Last night, Writers on Call offered a free call to explore what these group coaching calls are all about. I took had to take a few days off this week, so was unable to tell you about the call in time. But Suzanne Lieurance says I can offer you something special.

If you send Suzanne an email (suzanne at workingwriterscoach dot com–format this the way you know it works), she will send you a recording of the call. She will also give you the two coaching questions she asked on the call, AND is offering one on one coaching to help you answer the third.

Here are the two questions:

1. “What do you want?”

2. “Why do you think you don’t have it yet?”

The third question is what her personal coaching will help you answer:

3. “What is one little thing you can do today to move you toward what you want?”

Send Suzanne an email, and make sure you tell her Diane sent you! I want to see you start to reach your goal–TODAY!

New Sample Press Releases–with Relevant News You Need to Know!

Friday, June 1st, 2007

If you’ve been following the articles for the month of May, you know that I’ve been giving an ongoing tutorial on press releases. And I’ve included samples for you to study as you read the articles.

This week, I have three new samples, all related to the Virtual Book Tour that’s coming up with Terry Whalin next week. (The details are in the press releases, also in an earlier blog post.)

Take a look at the sample press releases, and notice how content is reworked. (You might also want to look at the blog post and compare that to see how content can be repurposed.)

Also notice that each press release has a different angle. Which is most persuasive to you? (Please post your comment!)

Finally … do sign up for the teleseminar and ask Terry Whalin your question about how to get published! He offers a great bonus just for signing up. And if you can’t make the live call, you’ll still get the recording afterward. Finally, if long-distance charges are a factor for you, you can listen to the webcast through your computer.

You’ll learn a lot not only from the content itself, but from observing how a teleseminar like this is done. So do sign up now!
